Rock Artist Profile
SHORTIE

SHORTIE Sacramento, California, home of such legendary acts as The Deftones and Papa Roach, is fast emerging as a hotbed of new American rock.

Since arriving on the scene four years ago, SHORTIE has kicked up a California-style dust storm with their unique brand of aggressive, intense songs delivered with an unmistakably melodic vocal style.

Countless West Coast shows have left in their wake a legion of fiercely devoted fans.

SHORTIE's musical style carries with it the angst and maturity one would expect from a band twice their age (they are all between the ages of 18 and 22).

SHORTIE front man Pogus has a precocious grasp on the vocal dichotomy created by melding high-energy aggression with heart-wrenching melodies.

Throw in a sonic assault from guitarists Allen and Pag, the frenetic pounding bass by Kyle Klima and the relentless rhythmic pounding of drummer Justin Halladay, and you're talking kick-ass.

One thing is for certain: SHORTIE has created a sound to call their own, which -- in the current cookie-cutter nu-rock scene -- is no easy feat.

SHORTIE has had the opportunity to perfect their frenetic live show while sharing the stage with some of rock's most respected and influential artists, including Papa Roach, Limp Bizkit, Staind, Alien Ant Farm, Adema, Soulfly, Saliva and Pressure 4-5.

"Shortie is one of the most energetic live bands that we have ever played with," raves Lyle from Pressure 4-5.

"If they're playing anywhere near you, do not miss it."

SHORTIE was also a featured performer in the 1999 KRXQ Jamboree in Sacramento to a sold-out audience of 18,000+.

The band has experienced early radio support as well, receiving numerous spins on alternative station KWOD and active rock station KRXQ.

KRXQ's Alex Payne says, "Shortie brings the pain when it comes to catchy melodies, tight riffs, and a quick punch that will keep you hooked for life!!"

Having sold over 7,000 copies of their previous indie recording efforts, SHORTIE recorded their debut in 2002 on GoBig! Records, a brand new US-based label notable for their production of "StreetwiseDVD," a music video magazine.

SHORTIE's debut was also expertly crafted by noted producer/engineer Dave Dominguez (Papa Roach, Weezer, The Offspring, Staind).

Dominguez comments, "From day one, I wanted to be involved with this band."

"Their infectious melodies follow me day and night, and there quite simply isn't a more deserving and talented band out there right now."

"I'm thrilled and proud to be working with Shortie, and I'm looking forward to introducing their music to the rest of the world."
