A virtual thunderstorm of hard rock riffs, emotive vocals and driving rhythms, JET BY DAY use their propulsive power to soothe your rock 'n' roll soul.Their latest Kindercore full-length, "Cascadia," is catchy, melodic, infectious and intense all at once.
The band's relentless energy pushes hard and creates raw, raging guitar music that's no joke - JET BY DAY take their job seriously, with dedicated devotion to rocking hard and having a good time playing the music they love.
Hailing from Athens, GA, the members of JET BY DAY are Dave Matysiak (guitars and vocals), Mason Brown (guitar), Tom Naumann (drums) and Amy Burmeister (bass).
Way back when in the mid '90's, Dave and Tom began playing together in high school outside Atlanta, forming a band called The Hosstages.
A move to Athens for school brought about the name change to JET BY DAY and a revised line-up.
Amy arrived in 1998, followed by the addition of Mason's second guitar in 2000.
The band quickly became one of the most poular bands in Athens, and went on to produce a couple of self-released EP'S two split 7" releases and a well-received LP on Atlanta label Moodswing, some of which was recorded by Bob Weston (Nirvana, Sebadoh).
Call it prog-punk, indie-metal, whatever - this is raw, ferocious rock music with an honest spirit, presented by young players who are wise beyond their years.
Inspired by bands like Dinosaur Jr., Thin Lizzy and Nirvana, no one's really sure what to call this stuff, but JET BY DAY's recording label likes the term "Thundercore," conjuring up images of stormy guitar licks and downpours of rhythm and musicality.
JET BY DAY's live show is also inspiring.
Barely in their twenties, JET BY DAY's many years of practicing and touring have perfected a kick-ass performance.
They rarely miss a note and still rock with a vengeance.
The band exclaims, "at shows we jump into the crowd, get on tables and bars, swing from ceilings, jump off PA speakers and exhaust ourselves every night because it's the most fun and rewarding feeling on earth."
"Jet By Day is a band because the songs cannot sleep. We rock 100%, even when we're sick as dogs!"
The twelve tracks on "Cascadia" are intricate and aggressive, with lyrics dealing with everything from love to war.
The songs are dark but still poppy, honest and introspective.
Complex arrangements with organ, violin, shakers and beer bottles contribute to a unique and diverse release that truly rocks -- a beautiful tempest of guitar riffs and vocal lines, emotionally charged and physically intense.
"Their melodic post-punk tunes, occasionally straying into more metallic or hardcore realms, reveal that dedication and seriousness with which Jet By Day take their music; likewise, their on-stage demeanor reveals the fun and excitement they so obviously feel from playing in a satisfying rock band."
- Delusions Of Adequacy
"Their sound is polished and tight, and their presence great... All together, Jet By Day showcases strong talent and cohesiveness that some older bands have yet to discover. The show was what one wishes for when checking out new bands, a realization of a great show you never knew you were missing."
