RUSTED ROOT Will Issue 2-Disc Live Set
RUSTED ROOT
11.12.04 (RockAndMetal.com) After being celebrated for more than a decade for their consistently riveting live show, long-time Jam Fusion/Rockers RUSTED ROOT will be releasing their first live album this Tuesday, November 16th. Aptly entitled "Rusted Root Live," the new two-disc set features 22 tracks that span the group's more than 12-year career, including 2 brand new songs in 'Jack Kerouac' and 'Ecstatic Drums,' plus a cover of the Neil Young song 'Powderfinger.' "Rusted Root Live" will be issued on the band's own Touchy Pegg/DKE Records label, with a song list that ranges from such early favorites-turned live staples as 'Cruel Sun,' 'Ecstasy,' 'Martyr,' 'Cat Turned Blue' and the hit single 'Send Me On My Way' (all from 1992's "Cruel Sun"), to the popular 'Blue Diamonds' and the rousing title track from the band's last studio effort, 2002's "Welcome To My Party." Veering, like most previous RUSTED ROOT albums, into Eastern and African-sounding directions, the electrifying and powerfully rhythmic "Rusted Root Live" features the Pittsburgh-spawned band's original line-up of Michael Glabicki (lead vocals, guitar), Jenn Wertz (vocals, guitars, percussion), Liz Berlin (vocals, guitars, percussion), Jim Donovan (drums, percussion, vocals), Patrick Norman (bass, guitar, baritone vocals, percussion) and John Buynak (electric guitar, percussion, flute).

THE HAUNTED's Peter Dolving Checks In
THE HAUNTED
11.12.04 (RockAndMetal.com) THE HAUNTED are currently in the midst of a tour alongside DAMAGEPLAN and SHADOWS FALL, the first U.S. tour for original vocalist Peter Dolving, who recently returned to the fold on the band's new album, "rEVOLVEr." Dolving checks in with the following tour report: "Holy shit, it's been intense so far! I'm a bit embarrassed to say I almost missed the show in Las Vegas... Well, on the good side I am glad to say that we passed through Florida and Texas unscathed. The audiences were great, and a few girls persisted in giving shows of their own. Honestly, whatever you might think, you gotta love a girl in a school uniform. Our friends from Hatebreed and Malevolent Creation showed up in Tampa, and the boys from Lamb Of God who are out on tour right now with Fear Factory came to the show in Ft. Worth. I'm not passing out from screaming anymore, so I take that as a sign that we're getting in shape after the first couple of weeks and it proves that my body's getting back into tour mode, which comes along with this constant state of familiar aching. It seems like Damageplan and Shadows Fall are getting into it as well. Brian from SF got fucking strep throat and laryngitis the first week and I got to help out and sing with them which was great, but now he's back rockin' hard as ever. Except for that, it's pretty much the old sleep all day stay up all night hyper media consumption mind numbing blindly staring in to the passing landscape getting ready to rock your brains out one hour per day thing that we call touring. I love this shit."

DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE Head To Atlantic
AMERICAN HI-FI
11.11.04 (RockAndMetal.com) Seattle-based Indie Rock quartet DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE have joined up with Atlantic Records via a long-term, worldwide deal. The band's current album, "Transatlanticism," along with their back catalog and an upcoming live EP set for a Spring release will remain on Barsuk Records. Future DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE recordings will be released by Atlantic and distributed domestically via WEA and outside the U.S. via Warner Music International, with future vinyl releases still being distributed stateside via Barsuk. DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE guitarist/producer Chris Walla comments: "Only a year ago, it seemed impossible that any major label could present us with a contract that we'd consider sgning. Not only were we wary of leaving the comfortable situation we've had at Barsuk, but since Josh and the rest of Barsuk have been close friends of ours and have matched us hour-for-hour working for the success of the band, we'd never have made a move without their blessing. We're so excited that Atlantic came to us with everything we could have asked for. We're looking forward to continuing to do exactly what we already do, but with more resources to make the records that we've always wanted to make. Atlantic's willingness to support the way we do things in terms of marketing and creativity has been so exciting and, best of all, we've clicked personally with a core group of people at the company. We expect the transition will be a seamless one."

VREID Debut Comes Soon Via Candlelight
VREID
11.11.04 (RockAndMetal.com) Candlelight Records has confirmed January 25th as the U.S. release date for "Kraft," the debut album from Norway's VREID. Formed earlier this year, the band features the surviving members of WINDIR, who disbanded due to the unexpected death of singer/founder Valfar. On "Kraft," VREID (Norwegian for "wrath") have composed an impressive first offering that is sure to find acclaim far and wide. Holland's Vampire Magazine has already claimed "Kraft" to be "an absolutely fantastic album," noting the recording's diversity and sheer creativity. "Kraft" is filled with heavy, dark, aggressive and absolutely dominating Norwegian Extreme/Black Metal. Recorded at Studio 1184 and mixed at Subsonic Society Studios (Dismember, Susperia, Red Harvest, Darkthrone), "Kraft" should appeal immediately to fans of baands such as ENSLAVED, EMPEROR, ARCTURUS, DARKTHRONE and IMMORTAL. Meanwhile, WINDIR, founded by Valfar in 1994, leave behind four classic recordings, which were all recorded for Head Not Found Records. The band graced stages at the Inferno, Quart and Hole In The Sky European Festivals plus an appearance (and now only US show) at Milwaukee's Metal Fest. WINDIR were set to record their fifth album (their first to receive worldwide release via Candlelight/Tabu Recordings) before Valfar's death. With VREID, vocalist/guitarist Shure bassist Halle, drummer Steingrim and new guitarist Esa paint a new future for their continuing dark musical concepts and visions.

JACKYL Scheduled To Release Live DVD
JACKYL
11.10.04 (RockAndMetal.com) Sanctuary Visual Entertainment has announced the upcoming release of a live JACKYL DVD. "Live From The Full Throttle Saloon," this January 24th, which captures the band performing a storming set at The Full Throttle Saloon, the ultimate rock 'n' roll venue located in South Dakota. The audience contains a large portion of bikers, who clearly revel in JACKYL's heady brew of Southern Boogie and Rock-heavy sound, with which the band responds in kind by delivering some of their better known tracks including 'Mental Masturbation,' 'Push Come To Shove,' 'Secret Of The Bottle,' 'You Want It Heavy' and many others. JACKYL vocalist Jesse James Dupree comments: "We've been on tour constantly since the release of our first album in 1992, so it's only natural to put out a live release. We did issue a limited-edition live album in Europe in 1995 since we weren't going to be able to make it over there to tour -- and there have been live B-sides, a CDR recorded in Seattle at which the members of Nirvana were slam-dancing to 'I Stand Alone,' and a track on Woodstock '94 which we were proud to be a part of -- but Live at the Full Throttle Saloon is our first body of work to include songs from all of our albums. The real star of this live recording is the crowd. On You cannot manufacture the likes of 15,000 people singing along with 'Down On Me' or 'Dirty Little Mind.' We went balls-out at this show. There was a lot of excitement and adrenaline," says Dupree. "That's what you get with a straight-up, greasy rock 'n' roll band. As a unit, we're a punch in the gut."

GOATWHORE Post New Website Update
GOATWHORE
11.10.04 (RockAndMetal.com) GOATWHORE have posted the following update on their official website: "We have a bunch of information to share with everyone at this time. We wanted to get this up sooner, but due to certain circumstance it was unable to happen. Let's begin with the Deicide tour we just finished up. The overall outcome for all of the shows was overwhelming and we would like to welcome any new fans we may have gained from the experience. We would like to thanks everyone that come out and supported, old and new fans, thanks and see you all again in November. We are sure everyone that knows us would like to know where our bass player Pat Bruders was. Well, he had to sit out for the Deicide run in order to take care of some personal home issues and legalities. He is currently back out with us, and we are very pleased to have him back. Come out to some upcoming shows and buy him a beer or a shot. For the Deicide tour a friend of ours from Severed Savior, Shon Benham, filled in on bass duties. He is actually one of the guitar players for Severed Savior, and helped out by filling in on bass for us. Thanks goes out to him and his crew in San Francisco. Now let's step into what would be the future for us. We are planning to enter the studio in March 2005 with a release date falling in the August/September 2005 time frame. Studio information, album title and song titles and all other future news will be posted here when we have it ready. Until then... peace fuckers!"

PAPA ROACH Stays High On The Charts
PAPA ROACH
11.08.04 (RockAndMetal.com) Geffen Records band PAPA ROACH moved to the top of the charts six weeks ago, and as of the end of last week it looked like they practically own it. The band's first single off their current album, 'Getting Away With Murder,' has been #1 for six weeks straight at Active Rock radio as well as #4 at Modern Rock, with no sign of slowing down. As icing on the cake, the band's new track "Scars" had a massive week at radio, emerging as #1 Most Added at Modern Rock, Active Rock and Mainstream Rock. PAPA ROACH's latest album, "Getting Away With Murder," premiered at #17 on the Top 200. Currently, the band is on the road with support being given by label mates TRUST CO. Formed in Northern California in 1993, PAPA ROACH is comprised of vocalist Jacoby Shaddix, guitarist Jerry Horton, bassist Tobin Esperance and drummer Dave Buckner. They made their recording debut with the 1994 EP "Potatoes For Christmas," followed by their full-length debut "Old Friends From Young Years" and two more indie EP's. When they released their second full-length album, "Infest," in 2000, all hell broke loose for PAPA ROACH. The album went triple-platinum, powered by the mega-hit single 'Last Resort.' With their 2002 CD, "lovehatetragedy," the band scored a #2 debut on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart and a coveted slot on EMINEM's Anger Management Tour.

CALLENISH CIRCLE Stateside Comp Due
CALLENISH CIRCLE
11.08.04 (RockAndMetal.com) Candlelight Records has confirmed January 25th as the U.S. release date for "Forbidden Empathy," a 2-CD retrospective from Holland's CALLENISH CIRCLE. Featuring 29 songs that chronicle the five-piece's complete and previously unavailable early recordings, the upcoming release looks like a good bet for stateside fans of the band. CALLENISH CIRCLE recorded their first and only demo, "Lovelorn," in 1995. Produced by Han Swagerman (The Gathering), it swiftly sold-out its limited 1,000-copy pressing. The band's full-length debut, "Drift Of Empathy," would be issued in 1996, foolowed successfully thereafter by their "Escape" EP and 1998's impressive "Graceful Yet Forbidding." All releases, however, failed to reach the U.S. via proper channels, with potential fans now curious about the Dutch band from positive media reviews. Commenting on the coming release of "Forbidden Empathy," CALLENISH CIRCLE vocalist Patrick Savelkoul says: "Definitely in the U.S. these recordings were extremely hard to find, so we are very excited that our fans in the US will be able to buy all of our previous material in one single purchase." Originally formed in 1992, CALLENISH CIRCLE have since released four full-length albums, and have performed at numerous high profile festival performances including Wacken Open Air, Summer Breeze and European Ozzfest. The band are currently writing material for their fifth studio album, expected sometime in late 2005.
