BRYAN ADAMS Is Celebrated On 'Anthology'
BRYAN ADAMS
10.14.05 (RockAndMetal.com) BRYAN ADAMS is celebrates his 25th anniversary as a recording artist with his first two-disc collection, entitled "Anthology," due for release this Tuesday, October 18th from A&M/Chronicles/UMe Records. "Anthology," the biggest retrospective ever of BRYAN ADAMS' multi-platinum, Grammy and Oscar-winning career not only contains all of his greatest hits -- 19 of his 21 Top 40 songs -- but also includes two new recordings, most notably 'When You're Gone,' featuring none other than Pop culture idol Pamela Anderson. Adams and Anderson, both Canadian-born, first worked together on Adams' 1999 photography book, "Made In Canada," for which Anderson wore nothing but a flag. The book, which also featured photos of other influential Canadian women such as Linda Evangelista, k.d. lang and Shania Twain, benefitted the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Also contained here is the original version of the song 'When You're Gone,' which appeared on BRYAN ADAMS' 1998 album, "On A Day Like Today," and featured Melanie C from THE SPICE GIRLS. The 36-track "Anthology" spans Adams' entire career from 1980 to 2005, also boasting the new song, 'So Far So Good,' which not-so-coincidentally was the title of his first 1993 quintuple-platinum "greatest hits" album. In addition, the package includes photographs and an essay by renowned music critic Dave Marsh. A bonus in initial shipments is a limited edition DVD of a previously unreleased concert shot on Super 8 and 16mm film at the Pavilhao Atlantico in Lisbon and elsewhere in Portugal in February of 2005. Impressively, the #1 hits on "Anthology" are: '(Everything I Do) I Do It For You' (#1, triple platinum, Oscar and Grammy-winner from the 1991 movie, "Robin Hood: Prince Of Thieves"), 'Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman?' (#1, Oscar-nominated from the 1995 movie, "Don Juan DeMarco") and 'Heaven' (from 1984's"Reckless" album). The other Top 10s contained on "Anthology" are 'Can't Stop This Thing We Started' (gold, from 1991's "Waking Up The Neighbours" LP), 'All For Love' (platinum, performed with both Rod Stewart and Sting, from the 1993 movie, "The Three Musketeers"), 'Please Forgive Me' (from the "So Far So Good" album), 'Heat Of The Night' (from 1987's "Into The Fire"), 'Straight From The Heart' (from 1983's "Cuts Like A Knife") and 'Run To You' (also from the "Reckless" album). The other Top 40s here are 'Summer Of '69,' 'It's Only Love' (with Tina Turner), 'Let's Make A Night To Remember,' 'Cuts Like A Knife,' 'This Time,' 'Somebody,' 'One Night Love Affair,' 'Hearts On Fire,' 'There Will Never Be Another Tonight' and 'Thought I'd Died And Gone To Heaven.' From 'Remember,' culled from BRYAN ADAMS' self-titled 1980 debut, to a new millennium live duet with Bonnie Raitt ('Rock Steady'), the previous unreleased '18 Til I Die' from "Live In Lisbon 2005" and 'Open Road' from his latest album, 2004's "Room Service," "Anthology" presents the very best of one of the most popular Rock singer/songwriters of the last two decades.

MUNICIPAL WASTE On New Trek In Europe
MUNICIPAL WASTE
10.14.05 (RockAndMetal.com) Richmond, Virginia's MUNICIPAL WASTE have headed to Europe this month to kick off the second tour there in the band's history. The party thrashers are set to trek throughout the continent and are sure to leave a trail of passed-out headbangers and ringing eardrums throughout the rest of October into early November. The band is incredibly excited to get in front of a European audience again and play the new tunes off of their Earache Records debut album, "Hazardous Mutation," which has received much positive praise on both sides of the Atlantic and looks destined to be a modern Thrash classic. In a recent review, Outburn magazine said, "After years of wading through dumbed-down jocko hardcore, it is refreshing to hear a band like Municipal Waste bring back the energy, technicality and fun to a once great scene." The MUNICIPAL WASTE European tour officially kicked off last night in Amsterdam, Holland at Winston, and was surely a memorable time. Upon returning to the United States following their current tour of Europe, the band will be supporting CONVERGE on a tour that will run through the third week of November. CONVERGE, well-renowned Metalcore monsters from Massachusetts, specifically invited MUNICIPAL WASTE to participate on the high-profile trek. Never backing down from a chance to play in front of a psyched-up audience, the band accepted. The highly-anticipated tour is also slated to feature both THE RED CHORD and DARKEST HOUR, all of which is sure to bring quite a ruckus. TALKING HEADS Rhino Box Is Now Available
TALKING HEADS
10.13.05 (RockAndMetal.com) TALKING HEADS' eight pioneering albums defied easy musical categorization, and now -- eleven years after David Byrne, Chris Franz, Tina Weymouth and Jerry Harrison's last release together -- Rhino Records has done physically what could not be done musically -- they've put TALKING HEADS in a box. The self-titled collection, features each of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductees' studio albums remastered, expanded and released simultaneously on DualDisc. Packaged in a dramatic white plastic block with the song titles chiseled into it, "Talking Heads" is currently available at regular retail outlets and at www.rhino.com for a suggested price of $149.98. Co-produced by TALKING HEADS with Jerry Harrison personally overseeing the audio and DVD-A remixes, "Talking Heads" includes all of the band's studio albums: their 1977 debut, their Brian Eno and self-produced classics, and the band's 1998 swan song, the Steve Lillywhite-produced "Naked." Each DualDisc includes the original TALKING HEADS album in remastered stereo, plus rare bonus songs on the CD side. The DVD side of each disc contains the original album mixed in 5.1 Surround Sound, plus bonus audio and video content, lyrics and photos. In addition to the group's hits 'Burning Down The House,' 'Take Me To The River,' 'Road To Nowhere,' "Wild, Wild Life" and 'Once In A Lifetime,' this deluxe sonic upgrade includes an impressive collection of previously unavailable bonus songs and videos. Unreleased highlights include an acoustic version of 'Psycho Killer' mixed in 5.1 Surround Sound, a live 1976 video performance of 'I Feel It In My Heart' recorded at The Kitchen in New York, alternate mixes of 'The Big Country' and 'Life During Wartime,' early versions of 'And She Was' and 'Road To Nowhere,' plus a rare version of the song 'Papa Legba' featuring "Pops" Staples, several unfinished outtakes from the "Remain In Light" sessions, as well as most of TALKING HEADS' promotional music videos and German television performances from 1980 on Rockpop. Formed in the mid-'70s at the Rhode Island School Of Design, TALKING HEADS were art school students who made a name on the nascent New York City Punk scene at venues like CBGB's, before evolving into one of Pop music's more adventurous and influential bands. TALKING HEADS pioneered a polyrhythmic sound that borrowed from Rock, Funk, Punk, World Beat and Avant-Garde minimalism to create clever and catchy Experimental music that was also embraceable by radio audiences.

GAMMA RAY Release Newest Via Sanctuary
GAMMA RAY
10.13.05 (RockAndMetal.com) GAMMA RAY have just released their new album, entitled "Majestic," via Sanctuary Records. The lineup for the new offering features Kai Hansen (guitar, vocals), Dirk Schlachter (bass), Henjo Richter (guitar, keyboards) and Daniel Zimmerman (drums), who have been together for the last several releases after a number of personnel changes in the early stages of GAMMA RAY's career. "Majestic" is the follow-up to "Skeletons In The Closet, which was released in 2003. As with previous GAMMA RAY releases, Kai Hansen functions as the main songwriter, although both Richter and Zimmerman also contributed tracks to "Majestic," lending a dash of diversity to the signature GAMMA RAY sound. The band recorded the album at their own Hansen Studios in Hamburg, Germany, with Hansen and Schlachter at the controls, while bringing Mika Jussila (Stratovarius, Masterplan, Edguy, etc.) aboard afterwards to master the album to create a dynamic, well-rounded sound for the finished product. In 1988, after spending four years as a guitarist and songwriter with HELLOWEEN, Kai Hansen decided to leave that band due to the heavy touring activities of the band. Eventually, Hansen decided to form his own project with long-time friend Ralf Scheepers (vocals), Uwe Wessel (bass) and Mathias Burchardt (drums), from which GAMMA RAY was born. In January of 1990 that lineup released the album "Heading For Tomorrow," which was particularly successful in Europe, especially in Germany and in Japan. While HELLOWEEN changed their style of music a bit finding a creative climax in their album "Chameleon," Hansen and GAMMA RAY stuck to the kind of melodic and bombastic Power Metal that put HELLOWEEN on the map. Throughout the early and mid 90s while working through several lineup changes, GAMMA RAY nonetheless managed to put out a steady run of releases in the "Heaven" EP (1990), a live video called "Heading For The East" (1991), and albums including "Sigh No More" (1991), "Insanity & Genius" (1993), "Land Of The Free" (1995) and the live "Alive '95," before solidifying their lineup in the early part of 1997 into what still stands today as their current one. The "Valley Of The Kings" EP was released by GAMMA RAY that May, with the "Somewhere Out In Space" album being issued at the end of August. After two years of touring (supporting HAMMERFALL and JAG PANZER) came the "Powerplant" LP, which took the group in a slightly different direction musically. When the time came for a "Best Of..." album, Hansen and band decided to do things differently. Instead of just putting out a compilation of their most well-known songs, GAMMA RAY instead went back to the studio to re-record old classics for the album "Blast From The Past," after which their last release, "No World Order" was issued by the band following a much-needed year off.

ILCK3 Out Supporting 'These Bones Will Rise'
IMMORTAL LEE COUNTY KILLERS 3
10.12.05 (RockAndMetal.com) IMMORTAL LEE COUNTY KILLERS 3 are currently on a North American tour along with THEE SHAMS and Nashville peers BLACK DIAMOND HEAVIES. ILCK3 (as IMMORTAL LEE COUNTY KILLERS 3 are commonly known) are touring in support of their third album, "These Bones Will Rise To Love You Again," which was released in the United States in September via Tee Pee Records. IMMORTAL LEE COUNTY KILLERS 3 (formerly known as "IMMORTAL LEE COUNTY KILLERS" when they initially played as a duo a few years back) are an enigmatic Southern Rock combo born and bred on the Delta Blues. Yet ILCK3 also entertain the D.I.Y. Punk aesthetic, brandishing further combinations of Syd Barrett-esque Psychedelia, all while utilizing the traditional slide guitar of the deep South. Those musical permutations are not easily thrown together into a tasty Rock 'N' Roll hybrid by most, but IMMORTAL LEE COUNTY KILLERS 3 make the recipe seem simple, organic, and downright irresistible. Currently calling the Nashville, Tennessee Indie music scene home, ILCK3 have already garnered critical acclaim from the likes of local fanzines to Punk Planet to Thrasher, as well as from Rolling Stone and The Associated Press. After releasing a series of 7" singles in the late 90's, the group put out their first full album, "The Essential Fucked Up Blues," through Estrus Records in 2001, which featured the positively evil track 'Killer 45' alongside the hilarious, hillbilly-flavored rave-up, 'Won't Cook Fish.' Tour Dates: October 13th Dayton, OH [Elbo's] October 14th Cleveland, OH [Beachland Tavern] October 15th Covington, KY [Mad Hatter] October 17th Bloomington, IN [Second Story] October 18th Indianapolis, IN [Patio] October 19th Chicago, IL [Empty Bottle] October 20th Green Bay, WI [Main Stage] October 21st Madison, WI [High Noon Saloon] October 22nd Minneapolis, MN [Triple Rock Social Club] October 23rd Fargo, ND [VFW Hall] October 25th Kansas City, MO [Davey's Uptown] October 26th St. Louis, MO [Off Broadway Club] October 27th Memphis, TN [Hi Tone] October 28th Chattanooga, TN [Nautilus Party] October 29th Knoxville, TN [Pilot Light] October 30th Nashville, TN [The Basement] October 31st Birmingham, AL [The Nick] November 4th Atlanta, GA [Star Community Bar] November 5th Savannah, GA [The Jinx] November 10th Arlington, VA [Iota Cafe] November 11th New York, NY [The Mercury Lounge] November 12th New Haven, CT [Cafe Nine] November 13th Montreal, QB [TBA] November 14th Ottawa, ON [Babylon] November 15th London, ON [Call The Office] November 16th Toronto, ON [TBA] November 17th Hamilton, ON [The Corktown Tavern] November 18th Columbus, OH [High Five] November 19th Cincinnati, OH [The Comet Tavern] November 20th Louisville, KY [The Gate]

WINDS Update Things Regarding New Album
WINDS
10.12.05 (RockAndMetal.com) Founder/keyboardist Andy Winter of Progressive Classical Metallers WINDS checked in recently with the following update on the band's next album: "Considering that we have not really spoken much about details concerning the progress and direction of the new Winds record so far, I think now is the right time to talk a little about how things are going and the direction we are taking. As the new album is in the process of being created, I have known for a while that it will be the most different album we have ever done. The reason for this is because our methods of working together have been different, and we have also undergone some changes in the way we come up with the material. Although the other members of Winds aside from my self have contributed with material and creativity in the development of all our records, never before have basic ideas for compositions started with someone other than myself. This is an interesting prospect, because it has challenged me to think differently about how I approach our music and the compositional process in Winds. Another new element that was introduced this time was the fact that I have also written and arranged several parts and entire compositions on guitar, which is something I have not done before. These are just some examples of how we've found new ways to collaborate, and through changing the recipe, being able to come up with a different and even more interesting result. The methods of creating virtually every song has been different, so the new material is also much more varied and diverse, yet still uniquely Winds, there is no doubt about that. There will be everything from acoustic/melodic parts, slower parts to really heavy and extreme parts, faster parts and progressive parts, and virtually everything in between. I have also known for a while that this would be a more progressive-oriented record than our previous ones, but aside from being more technical it is also very epic, and I would say it has a darker atmosphere than any of our other albums have had. The one thing I didn't realize at the time when most of the compositions were written is how much we have grown as musicians in the songwriting department since the last time we were in the studio together. I am convinced that if we look back at our musical careers in ten or twenty years, this will be the album we will choose to listen to ourselves. I am certain we have accomplished above and beyond what we thought our expectations of ourselves could have been, and truth be told I have never been this excited about finishing a record before. Whether or not it will see a release before or after the mid-point of 2006 is something I can't really answer at this point. All I can say is that our focus is 100% on finishing the new record, and from this point on everything else has been put aside until that has been accomplished. That's it for now. We will report in as soon as something happens that is worth mentioning. In the meantime check out our new 'Age of Silence' release, just out on The End Records/Candlelight Records."

THE LOVETONES' 'Meditations' Arriving Soon
THE LOVETONES
10.10.05 (RockAndMetal.com) Australian Pop/Rockers THE LOVETONES' new album, "Meditations," will be released next Tuesday, October 18th via New York-based Tee Pee Records. Led by vocalist/guitarist Matthew J Tow, THE LOVETONES encompass the very best of Psychedelic Rock from yesteryear with modern-day, guitar-driven Pop. Tow first gained attention through Australian Psychedelic band DROP CITY. Hailing from Sydney's inner city, DROP CITY's combination of Pop melodies and lush Psychedelic textures saw the trio gain a reputation in Australia throughout the nineties as kings of the acid-soaked soliloquy. DROP CITY achieved considerable success while they were together, releasing five albums and touring all over the world with like-minded artists such as STEREOLAB, HOODOO GURUS, LUNA, YOU AM I, THE POSIES, PLUSH and THE STONE ROSES. DROP CITY chose to end alongside the millennium. In 2000, Matthew J Tow took time off from music and travelled through the U.S. and the UK, when he hooked up with long-time friend Anton Newcombe from THE BRIAN JONESTOWN MASSACRE and began writing new songs. Tow then returned to Australia with the idea of starting a new group. The sound in his head resembled the pioneering spirit of latter-period BEATLES and David Bowie, the Psychedelia of artists such as SOFT MACHINE and THE ZOMBIES, and the classic heartfelt Pop of THE WATERBOYS and ELLIOTT SMITH. Enter THE LOVETONES, who released their debut album, "Be What You Want," in 2002 to positive acclaim. During 2002, the band received constant national airplay in Australia and toured there extensively, eventually scoring the coveted support slot for Morrissey on the Sydney leg of his first-ever solo Australian tour. In early 2003, Anton Newcombe released the "Be What You Want" album in the U.S. on his imprint The Committee To Keep Music Evil through Bomp! Records. Tow went to the U.S. in March 2003 as guest rhythm guitarist for THE BRIAN JONESTOWN MASSACRE's 25-date tour of the U.S. April of 2003 was spent holed up in L.A.'s Figment Studios with THE BRIAN JONESTOWN MASSACRE. By the time THE LOVETONES reconvened in LA in early May, Tow had contributed two of his own tracks to the BJM album "...And This Is Our Music," which was also released later that year through Tee Pee Records. A palpable buzz began to surround THE LOVETONES in certain U.S. music circles by the time they had completed the May 2003 tour of the U.S. with THE BRIAN JONESTOWN MASSACRE. THE LOVETONES soon joined the likes of THE WARLOCKS, BJM and CLINIC with a 7" release on the Limited Addition label. UK-based Fire Records then invited The Lovetones to contribute a track to the remarkable James Joyce "Chamber Music" project alongside such acts as MERCURY REV, SONIC YOUTH, Mike Watt and R.E.M.'s Peter Buck. 2004 saw the release of THE LOVETONES' "Stars" EP in Australia through Chatterbox Records that coincided with a BRIAN JONESTOWN MASSACRE/LOVETONES tour of Australia in May. The remainder of 2004 and early 2005 was spent recording the new "Meditations" album.

CATHETER Ready To Unveil 'Dimension 303'
CATHETER
10.10.05 (RockAndMetal.com) Three years after their crushing debut album, Denver, Colorado cantankerous trio CATHETER are set to unveil their sophomore release, "Dimension 303," via Selfmadegod Records on November 1st. Following up on the band's vicious trademark sonic assault, the new album lays to waste eighteen intense, kick-to-the-face hypergrind bursts of relentless auditory damage. CATHETER play violent, catchy Grindcore seething with Crust, Punk and Sludge elements dusting the final product. Powerful production and superb musician skills complete the grind entity known as CATHETER, making "Dimension 303" a monstrous work from one of the most proficient and dedicated Grind acts around, with artwork for the album provided by maestro John Santos. CATHETER started in 1997 as a Crustcore band with Metal influences, a few lineup changes occuring in the band's early years. Once a steady group of members was formed, that led to their first release, a split LP/CD with LAUGHING DOG that finally put CATHETER on the map. Returning home from a successful East Coast debut tour alongside LAUGHING DOG in 1999, the band cut two more releases while back in Denver, a debut 7" on Head Fucker Records and a split 7" with New Mexico's FIENDEAD. A U.S./Canadian tour followed on 2000, on which CATHETER was well received. Returning from that tour a split 7" with BLACK MARKET FETUS was released by the band, along with a 3-way split CD with TR and SUTEK CONSPIRACY. Various compilation tracks were also recorded by CATHETER for several labels including Slap A Aam, 625 Productions and Putrid Filth Conspiracy, all of which led up to the recording of a full-length debut album by the band for Selfmadegod entitled "Preamble To Oblivion," which was also released on vinyl by 6 Weeks Records. That album being relatively well-received around the world, "Preamble To Oblivion" gave CATHETER a reputation as one of the top Grindcore bands on the international scene. Since their debut release, the band has done a couple of split releases with other groups in the meantimem including CD/LP splits with Holland's F.U.B.A.R., Sweden's BIRDFLESH, as well as a split 7" with Japan's UNHOLY GRAVE. In 2005, CATHETER rehearsed and played extensively to record "Dimension 303," which has already been released on vinyl via The Netherlands' Fast & Furious Records. Early last month, the band commenced a new East Coast tour, after which they began a current 8-week tour of Europe with Germany's WOJCZECH. Over the past several years, CATHETER have also performed alongside other well-known bands including MUNICIPAL WASTE, WEEDEATER, ENTRAILS MASSACRE, NOISEAR, WASTOID, CEPHALIC CARNAGE, EXHUMED and MORTICIAN.
