This amazing historical document featuring what some would consider THE ROLLING STONES at their finest features the band along with electrifying performances from special guests JOHN LENNON, ERIC CLAPTON, THE WHO, MARIANNE FAITHFULL, TAJ MAHAL, JETHRO TULL, MITCH MITCHELL and more will be shown on the big screen at 50 participating Regal Cinemas theaters around the country for one night only on October 11th, representing a once-in-a lifetime opportunity for fans to see THE ROLLING STONES on the big screen performing six of their classic songs live in this unusual and comedic film, which was literally unseen for years until it was broadcast officially for the very first time on VH1 in the mid-90s. On October 12th, the very next day, ABKCO will release "The Rolling Stones Rock And Roll Circus" on DVD in 5.1 Surround Sound, with unseen footage, newly recorded audio commentary from Jagger, Richards, Wyman, Faithfull, Pete Townshend, Yoko Ono, director Michael Lindsay-Hogg and many others, as well as other extra segments.

BATTLELORE vocalist Patrik Mennander will be leaving the band in a little over a month, as he is no longer able to dedicate the necessary time to the Epic Fantasy Metal outfit. The decision has come amicably, and BATTLELORE wishes Mennander and his family all the best. Meanwhile, the singer will perform his last gig with BATTLELORE at the RingCon Festival on October 29th. Since Mennander will also not be performing during the upcoming tours with LEAVES' EYES and ATROCITY, BATTLELORE have found a temporary replacement in Tomi Mykkanen from EVEMASTER. Following the tour, the band will resume their search for a permanent lead vocalist, who will then be making their debut on BATTLELORE's next release, which is tentatively scheduled for mid-2005. Likewise, bassist Miika Kokkola will also not be able to join BATTLELORE on their upcoming tour, so Timo Honkanen of ELDERTHRONES has been enlisted to take his place for those performances. BATTLELORE returned to center stage in 2003, continuing their Tolkien-inspired saga with an impressive double release of the "Sword's Song" CD and "The Journey" DVD, which comprised over 45 minutes of BATTLELORE bliss, including the wonders of the Finnish landscape featured in the band's 'Journey To Undying Lands' video.

After storming the Netherlands Metal underground with two self-financed releases, numerous live performances and two successful mini-tours, Holland's young Thrash sensations FLESH MADE SIN have teamed up with Karmageddon Media for the release of their full-length debut album on November 15th, entitled "Dawn Of The Stillborn." Featuring brutal and honest aggression that goes straight for the kill, FLESH MADE SIN combine a mature and well-balanced ripping Thrash style with an already excellent live reputation to pursue their quest to conquer other parts of the world with the new album. "Dawn Of The Stillborn" was recently recorded, mixed and mastered at Harrow Recording Studios in Losser, The Netherlands, with cover artwork commissioned by Manuel Tinnemans (Necrophagia, Pentacle). The band commented on their recent signing to Karmageddon Media with the following: "Finally we found some lost souls daring to release the first full-length assault from Flesh Made Sin. We really appreciate the offer of Karmageddon Media to let us spit our ripping Thrash Metal to a higher level and a bigger audience. The thrashed up mirror of today's reality, murder and suicide go hand in hand with malignancy and horror. The eyes of God have been closed upon us. Watch the flesh commit the sin."
[FREE MP3] VIRGIN PRUNES Albums Being Reissued 10/4

(RockAndMetal.com)
The Grey Area of Mute Recordings will reissue five albums by influential Dublin, Ireland band VIRGIN PRUNES on October 4th - "A New Form Of Beauty," "...If I Die, I Die," "Heresie," "The Moon Looked Down And Laughed" and "Over The Rainbow." The albums, all originally released in the 1980s, have been remastered and repackaged with the involvement of frontman/founder Gavin Friday, and include mixes of material available here for the first time. The reissues represent an overdue opportunity to rediscover the creative power of VIRGIN PRUNES. The band formed in Dublin in the late 70s, coming out of the infamous Lypton Village scene that also spawned U2. The band included Friday and fellow Villagers Guggi, Dave-id Busaras Scott (vocals), Strongman (bass), Dik Evans (brother of U2's The Edge; guitar), Mary D'Nellon (drums) and Pod (drums). "A New Form Of Beauty" sees parts 1 to 4 of a their highly ambitious "A New Form of Beauty" project collated together on CD for the first time. The series saw VIRGIN PRUNES tackle the tricky concept of the beauty that can be found in being different (in this case both physically and musically), an idea that had informed the initial formation of The Lypton Village. Available here as a two-disc package, the first CD features the 7-inch, 10...

[WATCH] PHIL SPECTOR Lawyer Expecting Indictment
09.22.04
(Reuters)
A lawyer for PHIL SPECTOR said today he has been asked to accompany the famed music producer to court this Monday, September 27th, and fears his client has been indicted by a secret grand jury for the murder of Lana Clarkson. "Nobody said to me, 'Your client has been indicted,' but as a former deputy district attorney and a lawyer for 34 years, I can't imagine any other reason to be there Monday morning with Phil," attorney Roger Rosen told Reuters. Defense attorneys had been preparing for a preliminary hearing in which prosecutors would have had to show enough evidence against Spector to bind him over for trial. By taking the unusual step of obtaining an indictment, Rosen said, prosecutors were able to skip that step. He said that was evidence that their case was weak. "Phil is very disappointed," Rosen said. "He believed that at the time of the preliminary hearing we would have the opportunity to challenge the evidence. He felt strongly that there was a very significant possibility that this case would be thrown out at the prelim, so he's very disappointed that he's lost that chance." Prosecutors declined to comment on the case, which stems from the February 3rd, 2003 shooting death of the 40-year-old Clarkson, who was found dead in the foyer of Spector's 33-room faux castle in suburban Los Angeles. PHIL SPECTOR is best known for pioneering the "Wall Of Sound" recording technique, and his later work with THE BEATLES and THE RAMONES.

[WATCH] CAT STEVENS Is Denied Entry Into The States
09.22.04
(Reuters)
Former Pop/Rock singer/songwriter CAT STEVENS (now known as "Yusuf Islam") has been denied entry into the United States, as his airline flight from London was diverted to Maine after his name turned up on a federal terrorist watch list, a U.S. Transportation Security official said. United Airlines Flight #919 enroute to Washington was diverted to Bangor where Islam was questioned and detained by federal authorities, who put him on a return flight to the UK early today. U.S. Customs and border protection authorities discovered that the name matched a federal watch list by checking passenger information transmitted by the airline after the flight departed from London, the official said. The Washington Post, citing sources familiar with the event reported that Islam, whose name is listed as "Usef Islam," is on several government watch lists, including the no-fly list. United Airlines spokesman Jeff Green said the carrier was asked by the Transportation Security Administration to divert the plane to Maine for security reasons. The TSA had the flight diverted to Maine to keep it out of the Northeast corridor airspace, TSA spokesman Nico Melendez said. The flight, with the remaining passengers, departed for Dulles International Airport after about four hours on the ground and landed at Dulles around 9 p.m., Melendez said. CAT STEVENS had a string of hits in the early 1970s, including 'Wild World' and 'Peace Train,' before converting to Islam in late 1977.

CRYONIC TEMPLE have nearly the pre-production process for their upcoming third album, "Rapid Fire," which is to be released in mid-2005 via Limb Music Products. The new material is being described by lead guitarist Esa T Ahonen as a progression from where CRYONIC TEMPLE's second album, "Blood, Guts & Glory," left off. "The new songs are even more powerful, rawer (aggressive) with catchier choruses and the lead guitars on fire. There might be a surprise or two but all of you that liked our previous albums won't get disappointed. Don't worry, there won't be any rap/nu metal shit on this album either," Ahonen says. CRYONIC TEMPLE can already look back on an eventful career. The heart of the band is vocalist Johan Johansson, whose voice sounds very similar to that of Steve Grimmet from GRIM REAPER, and guitarist Ahonen, whose traditional way of playing his instrument is marked by the drive of a K.K. Downing and the virtuosity of an Uli Jon Roth. Johansson and Ahonen left their previous combos, an IRON MAIDEN cover band named TROOPERS and LEX CREDO, a Progressive Metal outfit, in 1996, in order to put together something more professional. The name CRYONIC TEMPLE was thought up after watching a documentary about Cryo-Technology, which permits its pro-science followers to have their bodies frozen after death in order to be revived in the far future.

Sanctuary Records will pay homage to LYNYRD SKYNYRD with the coming release of "Under The Influence - A Jam Band Tribute To Lynyrd Skynyrd, due October 5th. The 11-track album includes songs by bands such as GOV'T MULE ('Simple Man'), BLUES TRAVELER ('Free Bird'), BIG HEAD TODD AND THE MONSTERS ('Sweet Home Alabama'), LES CLAYPOOL of PRIMUS ('Call Me The Breeze'), NORTH MISSISSIPPI ALLSTARS ('Whiskey Rock A Roller') and DRIVE-BY TRUCKERS ('Every Mother's Son'). GOV'T MULE frontman/guitarist Warren Hayes says they chose to cover 'Simple Man' because it contains some "of Ronnie's [Van Zandt] most heartfelt lyrics. It's amazing what you can do with three chords, if they're the right three chords." Todd Mohr of BIG HEAD TODD AND THE MONSTERS commented: "'Sweet Home Alabama' is "one of the great rock songs of all time. It was very challenging to give the song a new interpretation. Lynyrd Skynyrd are one of the great rock bands of all time, particularly in the guitar realm... They had three phenomenal guitar players. Since Big Head Todd And The Monsters are very blues guitar-oriented, there are a lot of similarities. They are our forefathers, so to speak." "Lynyrd Skynyrd bridged 60's psychedelic rock to the gunslingers of the 80's like Van Halen," says Cody Dickinson of NORTH MISSISSIPPI ALLSTARS. "Long live rock and God Bless America."

MACHINE HEAD frontman Robert Flynn just updated his tour diary with the following entry on the band's official website: "We are officially finished with the Road Rage Tour. Super stoked to have toured, hung out, drank with the Chimaira boys once again. I love those guys, and I love that band. 'The Impossibility Of Reason' is one of the best modern metal records to come out in the past 5 years, and they are an un-fucking-believable live band. Wow! Those guys have really come into their own. It is awesome to see how much they have improved since we first took those guys out back in 2001. Monday Night Mosh!!!!! Openers/teenagers Trivium rocked the house big time, and went over really well. Seriously good dudes too. The Brown Eyes flowed heavily. In Chicago... Oh my God. In Anaheim...oh - Jesus - God?! The label really stepped up to the plate and did a great job delivering the goods. There were ads up the ass! Nearly all the shows kicked butt. Had a couple o' duds... Roadrunner Records has announced the signing of Grand Rapids, Michigan Metallers STILL REMAINS. Recently, the band have rapidly established themselves as one of modern heavy music's most promising young bands. Some may have witnessed STILL REMAINS playing live alongside the likes of AS I LAY DYING, ZAO and HASTE THE DAY at some point during 2004. The band's sound consists of heart-crushing howls and heartfelt melodies, delivered amidst a swirl of keyboards, with guitars chugging brutally along -- sometimes harmonizing in unison not unlike IRON MAIDEN on overdrive -- while songs like "I Can Revive Him With My Own Hands" feel like the last hours of a very bad day sped up in time-lapse. The band recently released the EP "If Love Was Born To Die" through Red/Sony Distribution last month. STILL REMAINS were first introduced to Roadrunner Records through A&R man Mike Gitter (Killswitch Engage, Cradle Of Filth). "I've never heard a band that smashes together Swedish metal, American metalcore and Saddle Creek-ish indie-rock all at once," says Gitter. "Then they push it all emotionally and over the edge! Guaranteed, this is the beginning of something great for years to come." Meanwhile, STILL REMAINS are slated to enter the studio this Fall to record their debut full-length for Roadrunner, slated for release sometime in Spring of 2005.
[FREE MP3] JIMI HENDRIX Concert Discovered In Sweden
09.20.04
(AP)
Technicians at Swedish Public Television in Stockholm have unearthed an unexpected delight for music lovers - a complete original recording of a JIMI HENDRIX concert in Stockholm from 1969 on a tape long thought to have been destroyed. The unmarked tape was recently found stashed on a shelf deep inside the station's enormous archives during a project to transfer archived material from tape and film to digital, SVT spokeswoman Catarina Wilson said Friday. "They looked through the tape and found it had some Jimi Hendrix," Wilson said. "Then they saw it had a lot of Jimi Hendrix - the entire concert, which is what makes this tape unique." The black-and-white recording from Stockholm's concert hall was ordered destroyed by a producer in 1969, a time when it was too expensive to keep all raw footage, Wilson said. JIMI HENDRIX died in 1970. Wilson said it was likely that one of the state-run network's workers, perhaps a Hendrix fan, stashed it on the shelf, where it sat for 35 years gathering dust. Part of the 56-minute concert was broadcast on SVT in 1969, before THE JIMI HENDRIX EXPERIENCE disbanded, but it has never been shown in its entirety. SVT is determining if it still has the rights to show the entire broadcast of the concert. "Of course we realize that this is great material that we would love to show," Wilson said.

CHIMAIRA will release "The Dehumanizing Process" DVD on October 25th, a 90 minute, behind-the-scenes documentary that follows the band from the writing and recording of their latest album "The Impossibility Of Reason" in 2003, through their stint on the recent Road Rage tour with labelmates MACHINE HEAD and TRIVIUM last month. In addition to the documentary, the DVD includes almost an hour of live CHIMAIRA performance footage. As an added bonus, the package will also include the band's "This Present Darkness" EP, which initially brought them to the attention of Roadrunner Records. "It's been a tremendous ride so far," says CHIMAIRA vocalist Mark Hunter, "and I feel fortunate enough to be able to show our fans what it's like to actually be in this group because we feel they are the 7th member, and we couldn't have done any of this without them." When CHIMAIRA released their sophomore effort "The Impossibility Of Reason" in May of 2003, it marked both the end of a journey and the beginning of a new one. Over the past year and a half, the band has toured with some of the biggest names in modern heavy music, played Ozzfest, shot three videos (one of which ended in a fiery blaze), gone through three drummers, fought illness, English thugs, and one another, with "The Dehumanizing Process" (directed by Todd Bell), capturing much of it on video.

(RockAndMetal.com)
Following their dark and broody first single 'I Am' from the new self-titled album from KILLING HEIDI, the band are set to release a second potential smash in 'Calm Down' on Monday, September 27th. The song has already been getting a big workout on radio (it was the #1 most added track to Australian radio on release to the media), and with a video for the song (shot in Broken Hill) hitting TV last Friday, expect the infectious Pop/Rock track to invade the music media in the next few weeks. "It's about a big ass crush," KILLING HEIDI frontwoman Ella Hooper comments. Musically, the track epitomizes the band's crunchier, more stripped-down approach to simply rocking out, while still managing to pulsate with immediate pop melody. 'The Calm Down' single package will also be released with 2 non-album B-side tracks in 'Never Know Me' And 'See What's Inside,' just to entice fans a little bit more. KILLING HEIDI also began their national "Calm Down" Australian tour in support of the new single last week, with the band heading into Rockhampton, Sydney, and more this week before making their way into Victoria come October. With the release of their latest album, the band has never been more comfortable in their own skin. "We're not often completely happy with anything we do", says Hooper, "but we are so proud of this album, and for the first time in a long time, we feel it truly reflects who we really are."
