Moonspell Embarks On New U.S. Tour
(RockAndMetal.com) (02/04/04)
By Michael Bennett
LISBON, PORTUGAL - Portuguese goth-metal pioneers MOONSPELL have embarked on a national U.S. tour alongside OPETH and DEVILDRIVER.The trek, running through February 28th, is the group's second U.S. run in support of their critically acclaimed new album, "The Antidote." Their new opus, heralded as their best offering since the landmark "Wolfheart" and "Irreligious" albums, features 10 epic tracks that encompass many aspects of horror, melody and heaviness. MOONSPELL's new video for the song 'Everything Invaded' is also receiving steady airplay on Uranium, and look for the band's diary piece with host Juliya to debut in mid-February. After a highly successful tour alongside genre leaders CRADLE OF FILTH and TYPE O NEGATIVE this past fall, vocalist Fernando Ribero further describes his excitement over their much-anticipated U.S. return: "It is still hard to catch my breath and step aside from 'The Antidote' storm, but I felt some words without time for words are due to all of you who are chasing our shadows a little bit everywhere we have been casting them. The COF/Type O tour was nothing but a privilege for us. Meeting up old friends and raising new ones and being able to share the stage with two amazing bands who have marked us so much in the past was great. Feeling that MOONSPELL can still build something new in the eyes of an audience who do not know the palest thing about us is a fantastic feeling for us, and we have looked forward to go again on the road with the exquisite Opeth (and meet Mikael with whom I wrote with in the golden Underground days, trading Wolfheart for Orchid if I well recall) and Devildriver. It will for sure be something which will change us all, because that is the way we tour: deeply. I will bring my death staff to sweat over all the time we are on stage, and I hope you will be there to add into the composition as we, MOONSPELL, so much desire. It is next week already and my stage clothes are still drying from the European tour... "After flying to Istanbul and Greece for yet more European dates, I ended up in Portugal for a mere five days that were of intense love for the one who just wants to be loved, five days to discover people still remember us down here, where we live. We have cleaned up Rock Sound Portugal readers' yearly survey that included best album, best band, best video, best drummer, best guitar player and I even nailed down best singer (there are generous people). Also, 'The Antidote' was the fourth best album of the year on Blitz (let us say the Portuguese NME) by its readers and more to come, so I am told. Can I catch my breath anytime? All the Euro dates with our best friends Lacuna Coil (the southern thing, you know?) were excellent and packed and reactive, just the way a band wishes. 'The Antidote' is poison live, and we are so eager in administrating it always. But it was great sharing the stage with Lacuna, destroying Paradise Lost songs with PoisonBlack on stage. Great memories of an endless time. I will see you soon and we will make it up for each other, for you waiting in the cold and for us away from home." Copyright 2003-2010 Internet Music Media.
