SECRETS OF THE MOON will release a new album in "Antithesis," which is slated for release Septemeber 15th via Prophecy Productions. There will also be a reissue of the band's debut album, "Stronghold Of The Inviolables," the same day - which will also contain the complete recording session for "Thelema Rising" with mostly unreleased tracks. Typically, Secrets Of The Moon's tracks are happenings pertinent to all your senses and remain an enigma for any listener wont to judge in a rational way exclusively. Their concerts are fueled by a Dionysian energy turning their performances into something more akin to a ritual, yet they never lose sight of the handicraft of their art. Secrets Of The Moon create music with great passion and visionary atmospheres, not only being state-of-the-art technically, but also setting new standards not just in the field of Black Metal. "It is," as English Romantic Shelley once wrote, "a mistake to suppose that he [Satan] could ever have been intended for the popular personification of evil." "Antithesis" seems to be rooted exactly in that concept; the devil is not imagined in a conventional way, not as a mere inversion of Christian values. Rather, he is praised in breathtaking songs as the Godfather of artistic inspiration -- an admiration of the sublime, the titanic and the rebellious in him, of his capacity for both destruction and creation, and of majesty even in his downfall. That this makes them the last true visionaries and innovators of Black Metal has been hinted at before. "Antithesis" has even more to offer, though: in its perfect balance of wildness and calculation, in its evocative, hypnotic intensity, in its heavy grandeur, in its sublime structure, in its confessional obsessiveness, the album is an immense step for Secrets Of The Moon and at the same time one of the more important releases in the realm of extreme music for a long time.

Technical Metal pioneers ATHEIST have announced their first American reunion show will take place at the inaugural Auditory Assault Festival. This year's festival is currently slated to take place at the Sonar Club in Baltimore, Maryland on November 25th. Also scheduled to appear are Relapse Records labelmates Misery Index and Cretin, as well as Monstrosity, Bathtub Shitter, Phobia, Internal Suffering, Embalmer, Commit Suicide, Total Fucking Destruction, and Trial, with one more artist to be confirmed soon. The performance by Atheist is the first of what will be a small number of select American reunion shows by the band. For more information on the Relapse Records co-sponsored event, go here. Atheist vocalist/guitarist Kelly Shaefer comments: "We are so pleased to be able to play as Atheist for the first time in America since 1991, and excited that it is part of a great new festival. As with our recent European festival shows, we will be performing songs from all three of our albums, and we aim to make it a technical death metal extravaganza - Atheist style!" Atheist recently began an exclusive run of European festival performances with incredible performances at Italy's Evolution Festival and the UK's Bloodstock Open Air. Shaefer continues: "We would like to say thanks to the Evolution Festival and Bloodstock Open Air for helping to give many people who never got to see Atheist live a chance to see us one last time. Both festivals were incredible experiences for us and ones we will never forget." Additionally, the band's highly influential catalog (1988's "Piece Of Time," 1993's "Elements," and 1991's classic "Unquestionable Presence") has recently been made available for the first time via iTunes and select digital distributors internationally. Tragedy struck Atheist at their peak in mid-January of 1991 as the band finished a tour with Candlemass and were involved in a road accident with their van in Louisiana, which resulted in the death of promising Atheist bassist Roger Patterson, who was just 22 years old at the time. Things were never quite the same afterwards, with the band recording one more album in 'Elements' and then breaking up for good in 1993.

Guitarist AXEL RUDI PELL will make a return August 28th with the the release of a new album entitled "Mystica" on SPV Recordings. Since his 1989 solo debut, "Wild Obession," and no later than his breakthrough in 1991 with "Nasty Reputation," Axel Rudi Pell has been a firm fixture in the German Melodic Hard Rock scene. In the musical microcosm, he has always had everything in its traditional place, yet on the other hand he moves continuously. If one had supposed that after the early 90's albums "Eternal Prisoner" and "Between The Walls" (at that time with singer Jeff Scott Soto) that Axel Rudi Pell would have nothing more to offer, then one quickly quickly assured with the knowledge that Pell has always stood for high level Hard Rock. "Black Moon Pyramid," "Magic" and "Oceans Of Time" covered the detailed possibilities of the genre without crossing the line, but at the same time remaining interesting and entertaining musically, which is the trademark of Axel Rudi Pell's German/American band. A spring into the new century was made energetically and easily on "The Masquerade Ball," "Shadowzone" and "Kings And Queens," while Pell showed his softer side on "The Ballads," "The Ballads II" and "The Ballads III." "Mystica" Track Listing:
1. The Mysterious Return (Intro)
2. Fly To The Moon
3. Rock The Nation
4. Valley Of Sin

Relapse Records has announced the signing of Sweden's COLDWORKER to a recording deal. Coldworker features former Nasum drummer Anders Jakobson and includes guitarists Anders Baerilsson and Andre Alvinzi, bassist Oskar Palsson, and vocalist Joel Fornbrant. The band, formed by Jakobson in January, have been hard at work on their debut album, "The Contaminated Void." On the development of the new offering, which contains the band's first songs, Jakobson says: "This is probably the fastest first album ever made! I mean, we've gone from not knowing each other to having a mastered copy of our first full length recording in our hands in approximately five months." Fornbrant adds: "I hope people will get a good feeling of spontaneity listening to the album." "The reason everything came together so quickly," Jakobson continues, "is because all the members are deeply involved in the songwriting process. It sort of clicked from the first rehearsal in February and we've surfed on that creative wave ever since, sacrificing lots of hours in the rehearsal room. We came out with something that was both fast and furious but also heavy and a little bit technical. Playing these songs has been something of a challenge for me as the style is completely different from what I've done before. I can't wait to share these songs with the world!" "The Contaminated Void "was recorded by the band this past June and mixed by Dan Swano. Advance song titles include: 'The Interloper,' 'An Unforgiving Season,' 'The Contaminated Void,' 'Return To Ashes,' 'Strain At The Leash,' 'Flammable,' 'Antidote,' 'Heart Shaped Violence' and 'Generations Decay.' "The Contaminated Void" is expected to see a European release this Fall, followed by a North American release in early 2007. The title track from the highly esteemed band's much-publicized new album, 'Come Clarity' was helmed by famed Director Lex Halaby (Atmosphere, Mudvayne, Killswitch Engage), who also recently wrapped shooting on the video for 'Snakes On A Plane (Bring It),' the title track from the upcoming New Line Cinema high concept action/horror film "Snakes On A Plane" starring Samuel L. Candlelight Records has confirmed September 18th as the UK release date for "Above The Weeping World," the new album from Finland's INSOMNIUM. Now available for viewing, the label has uploaded the band's new video for album track 'Mortal Share' - bring your browser to www.myspace.com/candlelightrecords. Recording at renowned Fantom and Finnvox Studios, "Above The Weeping World" contains Insomnium's skilled Melodic Death Metal, stunningly heavier with even further dynamic and melodic variety than that of their previous efforts. "This is by far the best Insomnium album," says vocalist/bassist Niilo Sevanen. "It is the first time we feel we really succeeded in the studio. We have nine great tracks on the album. As a band we are very happy with the end result." For the past three years, Finland's Insomnium have quietly founded a strong sales history and supportive fanbase. Their two recordings, "In The Halls Of Awaiting" and "Since The Day All Came Down," represent mere glimpses into the potential of this still very young band. Formed in 1997, the band recorded two demos before signing with Candlelight Records. Metal Hammer says: "Insomnium are captivating from start to finish," while Kerrang adds: "Insomnium have grown into something truly remarkable." New York quintet BRAND NEW SIN are set to return with a voracious Hard Rock/Metal assault laden with soaring, captivating melodies and crushing anthems. Entitled "Tequila," the album is set for an October 3rd release. Soon after completing a six-week nationwide tour as direct support to Black Label Society last Fall, BRAND NEW SIN entered Method Of Groove studios in Brooklyn with producer Joey Z (Life of Agony, Stereomud) to begin tracking "Tequila." They've just emerged with the final recording, which was mastered by the acclaimed George Marino (Metallica, AC/DC, Guns N' Roses) at Sterling Sound, which also features a guest vocal appearance by Peter Steele (Type O Negative) on the track 'Reaper Man' and is a good representation of what this group is ultimately capable of creating. Brand New Sin also recently recorded a new version of the entrance theme music for Big Show, the 7-foot, 500-pound ECW wrestler. The theme, 'Crank It Up,' was first heard on the compilation CD "WWE: Wreckless Intent," which debuted at #8 on the Billboard charts. Joe Altier (vocals) checks in with the following report: "The album is now complete. We recorded this one live as a band, and we think it perfectly captures our raw energy. Hopefully, everyone finds the new tunes as 'intoxicating' as we do. We feel that a lot of bands nowadays make things sound too polished, and we have been told for years that our albums are good but our live shows are much better, so that's what we went for. Stay tuned to our website www.brandnewsin.org and our MySpace page www.myspace.com/brandnewsin for all news and tour dates. See ya soon." It's the stunning blend of Altier's captivating roar and melodic overtones mixed with the band's gritty, rock-solid rhythm section, stunning dual guitar solos and pummeling hooks that helps Brand New Sin stand out from the pack and appeal to a diverse audience. "Brand New Sin is unyielding rock 'n' roll power and timelessness," says the vocalist. "You can pick our record up 20 years from now, and it will still feel as fresh and relevant as it does today."

August 22nd marks the date of release for "Void," the debut full-length from Los Angeles Metal quartet INTRONAUT. The album is the next step forward by one of the scene's more exciting new bands, and is bound to turn heads in the Metal world. Drummer Danny Walker, a member of Calfornia grinders Uphill Battle, and Sacha Dunable, guitarist for L.A. Doom band Anubis Rising, conceived Intronaut. They shared a common interest in playing something forward thinking with an emphasis on forceful songwriting. Ideas were exchanged and allowed to brew for a few months before the two began writing. The new project intrigued recent L.A. immigrant (and former Impaled guitarist/Exhumed bassist) Leon Del Muerte enough to join on guitar and vocals. Walker and Del Muerte bonded during their time spent touring together in Exhumed, so the three found it relatively easy to adapt to one another and a fresh style of music. All that was missing was a bass player to complete the equation, who they found in Joe Lester, an old friend of Dunable's, who recently left UC Santa Cruz with a BA in music. Having extensive experience playing Jazz, Funk and traditional Indian music, he still jumped at the chance to join Intronaut - his musical proficiency complementing the songwriting nucleus and adding an extra dimension to the overall sound. The music the quartet produced was heavy, technical, abstract, but above all listenable. They quickly wrote and recorded four songs that would make up their first release, the "Null" EP, the band so pleased with the end result that Intronaut promptly went from side project to full-time band status. Momentum built quickly, with the band playing many regional shows and selling over 200 CDRs of the recording, both at shows and through their website. The EP caught the interest of Chris Logan and Goodfellow Records and a recording deal was signed shortly afterwards. Goodfellow re-released Null in February 2006 to help introduce Intronaut to a wider audience. Recorded at Shiva Industries studio with John Haddad (Phobia, Eyes Of Fire) and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side, "Void" is a solid step forward by a young band ready to take things to the next level.

Vocalist Fernando Ribeiro says: "Last time we headlined was late 2001, after the release of 'Darkness and Hope.' The support band was Lacuna Coil on their very first American experience. We can't wait to get back to play our own show and to underline the great ties we built in all of our tours there with our small but very dedicated fan basis. 'Memorial' is intense live, and we want our American shows to follow up what we have been doing in Europe so far. This time around fans can expect better and bigger production. We are finally bringing our light team with us. We will have the full strength of 'Memorial' - the theatrics... the passion... it will all be there," enthuses Ribeiro. Supporting Moonspell on the aptly-named "Nocturnal Mourning" tour will be Katatonia and Daylight Dies. Ribeiro comments: "I love Katatonia, and I think they are the most brilliant band around. 'Dance Of December Souls' is still my album for the rainy days. Daylight Dies caught my attention with an advance single, and since then I purchased ;No Reply; and ;Dismantling Devotion; to get really deeply into this band that, with a life of their own, brings me back to the glorious days of Death Doom, a style so close to my heart and soul. I believe it is a great, great package with original, individual bands that do it for the passion and for the music. The moonfest for all undergrounders! The Euro fans are very jealous!" Tour Dates:

DEICIDE spent 12 hours locked up in baking Floridian conditions this past weekend while they filmed the video for the skin-flaying new track 'Homage For Satan.' In temperatures reaching almost 100 degrees, the band ripped through the track again and again with a level of energy and enthusiasm that would destroy many less committed bands, drummer Steve Asheim in particular pulling off the almost inhuman feat of playing for 12 hours straight in broiling conditions without dropping a beat. Never one to be outdone, frontman Glen Benton then upped the stakes considerably by donning his now legendary God-deflecting armor, last seen at the Roadrunner All Stars show, and performing the latter part of the video shoot effectively wearing a second skin. Add to that some blistering guitar work from newest members Jack Owen and Ralph Santolla and the climactic scene of the video where Benton is seen spewing forth bile and you just know that this might just be one of the most intense videos of 2006. With directorial duties on 'Homage For Satan' being handled by Detroit-based Scrambled Visual, the company is commissioned to film some additional blasphemy-based material back in the Motor City this weekend. Expect the 'Homage For Satan' video to be hitting television screens later this month. If you can't wait that long, then head on over to iTunes where you can currently download an exclusive early mix of 'Homage For Satan' as part of "The Stench Of Redemption 666 EP." The full-length album entitled "The Stench Of Redemption" is slated to be released to stores in the UK and throughout Europe on August 21st and in the United States the following day on August 22nd. Deicide have also secured an upcoming U.S. headlining tour in the Fall for late September and the entire month of October in support of "The Stench of Redemption" for which Jungle Rot (Crash Music, Inc.), Hurtlocker (Napalm Records) and Desolation (Shadowflame) have all been named as supporting acts. Tour dates for that run are currently penciled in for September 20th - October 31st.

Having recovered from a diagnosis of severe pneumonia compounded by an unknown viral infection, BLEED THE SKY guitarist Wayne Miller is in stable enough condition for his bandmates to rejoin the Dope tour, when they will be performing as a quartet for now. Following his June 18th performance in Louisville, Kentucky, Miller was rushed to a nearby hospital with a high fever. Encouraging his bandmates to continue with the tour, Miller stayed behind, but his condition worsened. After his admission into the intensive care unit, family members flew out from California and Bleed The Sky dropped off the Dope tour two nights later to drive 15 hours to be by his side. It appears the outpouring of moral support greatly aided Miller's recovery. "You're not gonna believe what the second thing was that Wayne said after he got off the respirator," reported Bleed The Sky bassist Daylen "Disco" Elsey with relieved laughter. "Well, the first thing he said was, 'I'm really tired.' The second thing he said was, 'So what are we gonna do about the two shows that we missed?' Can you believe that?! [laughter] The guy almost dies and he's worried about the shows he missed!" "We're trying to keep the dying to a minimum on this tour," joked Bleed The Sky guitarist Kyle Moorman. "We all took shifts watching him," continued Elsey. "He kept trying to take the tubes out of this nose, but we wouldn't let him. For some crazy reason, he thought we were gonna kick him out of the band 'cause he got sick. Yeah, right. We're gonna finish out the tour with Kyle covering all the guitar work 'cause we know he wants us to, but there's no way he's outta the band. He's irreplaceable." With Miller now in stable condition, the four-piece version of Bleed The Sky will most likely play the remaining 22 shows on the Jagermeister-sponsored Summer Of Sin Tour headlined by Dope. Said the band in an official statement: "We really wanna thank everyone for their support through this whole situation. The online posts, the text messages, the phone calls. They all helped us stay positive for Wayne."
