Coheed And Cambria Sign Major Deal
(RockAndMetal.com) (07/01/04)

By Michael Bennett

COHEED AND CAMBRIA NEW YORK, NY, USA - COHEED AND CAMBRIA have signed with Columbia Records, who will re-release their watershed album, "In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth: 3," this September.

You can catch the video for the song 'A Favor House Atlantic' now.

Officially christened Coheed And Cambria in 2001 (and now nicknamed the "emo Rush"), the group released their debut album, "The Second Stage Turbine Blade" in 2002.

That album's dynamic hooks, dark imagery and lyrical content -- coupled with Coheed And Cambria's highly regarded live performances -- quickly saw the rise of the band and earned them their present legion of die-hard fans, camped out in the front row of every live show they play.

Coheed And Cambria continued their saga in 2003 with "In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth: 3," which was originally released through independent label Equal Vision Records.

Perplexing, inspiring and beautiful, 'In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth: 3' is a shadowy and foreboding masterpiece featuring Claudio Sanchez's helium-high vocals and the band's majestic, sprawling sci-fi prog-rock/metal jams, which has now sold more than 150,000 copies to date through Equal Vision.

Coheed And Cambria's epic storytelling, deftly crafted songs, impeccably taut musicianship, and witty, emotive persona have proved to be an irresistible combination.

Coheed And Cambria was named by Alternative Press as the "#1 Band You Need To Know in 2004," and were featured in Blender's "Next Big Thing" issue (Jan/Feb 2004).

The story behind the two Coheed And Cambria releases take the listener into an intergalactic netherworld, with the main characters being Coheed And Cambria, who are husband and wife.

The first album exposes this dark and violent world to the listener, as Coheed becomes infected with the serum of a dragonfly, transforming him into an evil character, and simultaneously disrupting the order to this alternate universe.

Both husband and wife are eventually killed.

The story picks up again on 'In Keeping Secrets Of Silent Earth: 3' as Coheed and Cambria's last son, Claudio (his brothers and sisters have also been killed), comes to avenge his family's murder.

"This sequel is based around a premonition that one of the characters has during a dream," Sanchez reveals, "but that dream slowly turns into a nightmare."

With their dramatic melodies, epic storylines, exemplary musicianship, unbelievably obsessed and swelling fanbase, and one of the most seismic buzzes to shake the rock scene in recent history, it's time to prepare for the Coheed And Cambria revolution...
